Beginning Latin I
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Course Description: This is the first semester of academic transfer Latin. It is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the skills necessary for reading of easy prose. Emphasis is on the value of Latin as a background for the study of English and modern foreign languages. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. This course is cross-listed as LATI 1411 but is also used in Study Abroad programs. Students may register for either LATI 1311 or LATI 1411 but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

Course Description: This is the second semester of academic transfer Latin. It continues the reading, writing, grammar and cultural studies begun in LATI 1311. Emphasis is on the value of Latin as a background for the study of English and modern foreign languages. Students are expected to acquire a substantial amount of vocabulary and begin to deal with idiomatic language and more advanced syntax. This course is cross-listed as LATI 1412 but is used only in Study Abroad programs. Students may register for either LATI 1312 or LATI 1412 but may receive credit for only one of the two.
