Course Description: This course supplements beginning dance technique classes. Course Description: The basic skills of jazz dance are introduced. Emphasis is on technique and development, rhythm awareness, jazz styles, and rhythmic combinations of movement. Course Description: Work on skills and style in jazz dance is continued. Technical skills, combinations of steps into dance patterns, and exploration of composition in jazz form are emphasized. Dance Appreciation

Course Description: The cultural, historical and aesthetic qualities of dance are presented through lectures, films, videos, demonstrations and dance productions. Primitive, classical and contemporary dance forms are included. (3 Lec.)
