Course Description: Beginning level skills in various lifetime sports are presented as well as rules, etiquette, safety, strategy, offensive and defensive elements, conditioning activities and physical assessments where appropriate. (3 Lab.)

Beginning Swimming
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.
Course Description: This course is designed to teach a non-swimmer or a shallow water swimmer to become a safe and efficient deep water swimmer. After the development of sufficient skills to perform a modified crawl stroke, the elementary back stroke, survival floating, jumping into deep water, leveling off and changing directions, swimmers will be able to swim in deep water. Beginning Walking for Fitness

Course Description: This course is designed for the student who desires cardiovascular fitness by means of a low impact method. Maximum physical fitness is achieved by vigorous walking. The heart rate is elevated to the appropriate target zone for peak conditioning. An extensive warm-up and cool down increases joint and muscle flexibility. (3 Lab.)
