Course Description: An overview of wellness theory and its application throughout the lifespan of an individual. Focus is on attitude development, impact of cultural beliefs, and communication of wellness. Integration of common and alternative health practices and solutions to overall well-being are studied, assessed, and explored for the community. (2 Lec.)

Basic Health Profession Skills

Course Description: A study of the concepts that serve as the foundation for health profession courses, including client care and safety issues, basic client monitoring, and health documentation methods. Basic skills such as vital signs, phlebotomy, catherization, sterile and aseptic technique, pulse oximetry are taught and required to be demonstrated by the student and integrated with critical thinking skills. Medical terminology is included. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Pathophysiology

Course Description: Study of the pathology and general health management of diseases and injuries across the life span. Topics include etiology, symptoms, and the physical and psychological reactions to diseases and injuries. (2 Lec.)

Prerequisite: HPRS 1204
Course Description: This course builds on previously acquired knowledge and skills relevant to the professional development of the student. Lecture and simulated laboratory experiences prepare the student to perform patient care utilizing critical thinking and advanced clinical skills. Competency must be demonstrated on effective level of practice and knowledge. Skills achieved include EKG, phlebotomy, finger sticking, physical assessment, IV's. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Course Description: Exploration and application of management concepts necessary for effective health profession operations. This course incorporates and integrates principles of management such as health care delivery, strategy, and resource allocation to all forms of healthcare environments. Special emphasis is placed on finance, ethics, culture and diversity, trends, and career exploration. The study of law and ethics are intertwined into all the faucets of healthcare including case studies and enactments of legal cases. (1 Lec., 2 Lab.)
