Course Description: Introduction to systems and processes for collecting, maintaining, and disseminating primary and secondary health-related information including content of health record, documentation requirements, registries, indices, licensing, regulatory agencies, forms, and screens. Medical Terminology I

Course Description: Study of word origin and structure through the introduction of prefixes, suffixes, root words, plurals, abbreviations and symbols, surgical procedures, medical specialties, and diagnostic procedures. (3 Lec.)

Health Information Systems

Prerequisite: MDCA 1313, MDCA 1409 and admission to the Medical Assisting Program at El Centro College.
Course Description: Introduction to health IT standards, health-related data structures, software applications and enterprise architecture in health care and public health. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

Medical Terminology- Advanced
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: MDCA 1313.
Course Description: The student will identify, spell, and pronounce advanced medical terms; use advanced medical terms in context; construct and analyze advanced medical terms; and use medical references as resource tools. This course is cross-listed as HITT 2231. The student may register for either HITT 2331 or HITT 2231 but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec.)
