ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING

(Associate in Applied Sciences Degree)

El Centro only (North Lake is an authorized site.)

  • Students pursuing this award program are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites.
  • Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.

The Associate Degree Nursing Program is a two-year, 72 credit hour program, leading to the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree. The program prepares graduates to be eligible to write the NCLEX-RN Examination to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in Texas. The program is accredited by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas, (333 Guadalupe, Suite 3-460, Austin, Texas 78701: Telephone number 512-305-7400) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, New York 10006: Telephone number 212-363-5555).

The program combines classroom and skills laboratory experience with hospital clinical experience.

This program also has an LVN to RN bridge option that is only offered at the El Centro campus. Upon successful completion of the bridge course which is RNSG 1247; the student will be awarded an additional 19 hours of equivalency credit. This will award the student 72 total credit hours for the program.

The program offered at North Lake is under the administration and accreditation of the El Centro College Associate Degree Nursing program. Students will attend classes at North Lake, but receive their degrees from El Centro.

A grade of "C" or better is required for all courses. Support courses must be completed before or during the semester indicated.
