Beginning French I
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD.
Course Description: This is the first semester of academic transfer French. It is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

Beginning French II
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD. Prerequisite: FREN 1311 or the equivalent or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor.
Course Description: This is the second semester of academic transfer French. It continues the oral practice, reading, writing, grammar and cultural studies begun in FREN 1311. Students are expected to acquire a substantial amount of vocabulary and begin to deal with idiomatic language and more advanced syntax. (3 Lec., 1 Lab.)

French Conversation
This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: FREN 1412 or the equivalent.
Course Description: This course is designed to strengthen and improve oral skills in the language. Oral activities focus on current events, cultural, historical and social issues. Audio-visual media are used to explore French life and society. This course is intended to complement French 2311. This course may be repeated for credit. (3 Lec.)

Course Description: This is the third semester of academic transfer French. This course is designed to further develop students' overall language proficiency and cultural knowledge through more advanced reading, listening, speaking and writing exercises. Course Description: This is the fourth semester of academic transfer French. This course is a continuation of FREN 2311. The stress is on reading, composition, grammatical complexities, and intense oral practice, with continued studies of the culture. (3 Lec.)
