Sustainability

North Lake College encourages a culture of environmental, social, and economic stewardship. The college's mission, across campus, is to promote success, wellness, and conservation. Sustainable practices are a foundational part of campus culture, designed to foster growing awareness of responsibility for maintaining sustainable practices in every area of business.

In 2007, North Lake signed the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), pledging to eliminate its contribution to global climate change over time. Additional sustainable accomplishments include:

  • Certification as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation
  • Three LEED certified buildings on the Central Campus
  • Participation in the national RecycleMania Waste Minimization competition (North Lake placed first for four consecutive years from 2008 to 2011.)
