Cedar Valley and Eastfield only

  • Students pursuing this award program are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites.
  • Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.

Degree Plan Code: AAS.AT.SERV.TECH

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for entry level employment as an automotive technician. This program reflects a building-block approach from simple to complex and includes theory, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automobiles, including late model vehicles with electronic systems. Emphasis is placed on operational theory, practical skills and accepted shop procedures.

+Elective - any student enrolling in TECM 1341 Technical Algebra must take one Natural Science course from the DCCC AAS Core Options for Natural Science. Other college level MATH meets the requirement for MATH and Natural Science.

++Natural Science Elective - any student enrolling in TECM 1341 Technical Algebra must take one Natural Science course selected from the DCCC AAS Core Options for Natural Science.

+++Elective - a minimum of six credit hours of cooperative work experience are required for graduation. Students may elect to complete the cooperative work experience through the completion of 3 two-hour courses. If a student elects this option, they need to begin the courses by the second semester of the degree. Students choosing to complete the cooperative work experience requirement by completing the 2 three-hour courses should wait until their last two semesters of course work. The courses must be selected from the following list:

+++++Social/Behavioral Science Elective - must be selected from the DCCC AAS Core Options for Social/Behavioral Science.

NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four year institution of their choice.
