Degree Plan Code: AAS.SOC.WORK.GENERAL The Social Work Associate Program is designed to prepare individuals interested in working with people to obtain entry-level employment in public and private social service agencies. The social service worker is equipped with skills, knowledge, values, and sensitivity to effectively serve human needs in a variety of community settings. Students have the options to select courses that will prepare them to work in general social services or specialized social services for chemical abuse or the aging.

*Anyone desiring to continue their studies in the field of Social Work and transferring to a four-year college or university will have to complete an upper-level MATH course equivalent to MATH 1314 or higher-level math. The TECM math course will provide the math requirement that is essential to receive the Associates Degree. +Social Work Designated Elective - must be selected from the following:
++Designated MATH Elective - must be selected from the following:
+++Humanities/Fine Arts Elective - must be selected from the AAS Core Options for Humanities/Fine Arts. ++++Natural Science Elective - must be selected from the AAS Core Options for Natural Science. NOTE: BIOL 1408 is recommended, but any course from the AAS Core Options for Natural Science is acceptable. NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice.
