Degree Plan Code: C1.IBUS.IMP/EXP.03 The International Business and Trade Program prepares students for entry-level employment in such positions as specialists in exporting and importing for the critically important and growing international trade community. Most students focus on careers in international marketing, export or import management including supply chain management, international transportation and logistics, import-export trading, or various international business support services. Skills developed for the export and import of goods and services are presented in the context of the global economy and cross-cultural awareness and communications. Emphasis is placed on the contribution of exports to the local, state, and national economies. Students will have the opportunity to participate in activities related to the Export Assistance Center of the U. S. Department of Commerce, the Export-Import Bank through the Greater Dallas Chamber, the International Trade Center, SBDC, The Dallas Council on World Affairs, the North Texas Customs Brokers and Foreign Freight Forwarders Association, and Women in International Trade of Texas and other international organizations. Entrepreneurs, managers of firms with export potential, international agents, traders, or brokers, customer sales and service representatives, transportation managers, product managers, documentation clerks, letters of credit specialists, and global e-commerce entrepreneurs or aspirants to these fields may all benefit from the International and Trade Program. An International Business and Trade Certificate and an Import-Export Certificate will expedite your entrance to the international arena. The Import-Export Certificate is offered concurrently through the Continuing Education Division. The International Business and Trade Program is a World Trade Week educational award winner of the International Trade Association of Dallas/Fort Worth.

Degree Plan Code: SA.IBUS/TRADE.03 The International Business and Trade Skills Achievement Award for the International Business and Trade Associate of Applied Science Degree, International Business and Trade Certificate, the Import-Export Certificate, or the CEU Import-Export Certificate provides specific skills in language training recommended by business and industry. Certification is available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and/or Spanish.
NOTE: SPAN 2316, Spanish for Business I (3 credits), or SPAN 2317, Spanish for Business II (3 credits), may be substituted for SPAN 2312 Intermediate Spanish II in the Skills Achievement Award for Spanish.
